ACRD volunteers at “Paint the City – The Vacant Mural Project”

ACRD got artsy today at Paint the City – The Vacant Mural Project: June 3rd! Esprit de Corpse, Chaos Rains, Spinster’s Ambush, Itsy Bitsy Smiter, Sinister Dexter, Violent Mauldelaire, and Killin M. Smalls painted murals on plywood that will be used to cover doors and windows of vacant houses around Syracuse. We had a blast and loved volunteering with our sponsor the Greater Syracuse Land Bank!

ACRD vs Black Diamond Rollers (6/4/17)

For the second of our back-to-back two bouts in two weeks, we’re taking on the Twin Tiers’ Black Diamond Rollers! Don’t miss the second of our two Sunday-night matchups! Doors at 6pm, first whistle at 7pm.

General admission tickets will be available at the door for $10 or in advance for $7 (advance ticket link coming soon!). OCC students are $5 at the door (with ID) or $3.50 in advance. Kids 12 and under get in free!

Some Thoughts about Practice Attendance

Practice. A verb and a noun. Nouns are boring, so…

Verb:
1. carry out, apply
2. to do or perform often, customarily, or habitually
3. to be professionally engaged in
4. to perform or work at repeatedly so as to become proficient
5. to train by repeated exercises

There are so many great words in there. “Apply, perform habitually, professionally engaged, repeatedly to become proficient, repeated exercises.”

I could give examples of how consistent, engaged practice can make a huge difference in performance. There are thousands of books on the subject. My most recent favorite is Mind Gym. I’m just going to keep it short and give a few reasons to get to every practice – even when you don’t feel like it. Other people can probably think of even more and hopefully will post them here.
